Lahey Health at Home Private Duty Services (formerly North Shore PRN) is a not-for-profit program that has provided staffing and home-care services for the seniors within Essex County since 1987. This includes patient assessment by registered nurses (RNs), ongoing case management and RN supervision of staff. In addition, we provide unparalleled access to a wide range of healthcare services and resources.
As North Shore PRN, we began providing services to regional hospitals and offsite facilities during the nursing shortage of the late 1980s. Now, as Lahey Health at Home Private Duty Services, we continue that mission, taking great pride not only in the qualifications of our staff, but in the quality of compassionate care they provide.
Our highly skilled professional staff of RNs, licensed professional nurses, certified nursing assistants, and certified home health aides provide supportive healthcare services based on individual client need in the following settings:
- Private residences
- Assisted-living communities
- Group homes
From the beginning, we work collaboratively with patients and their families and caregivers to create a complimentary customized plan of care. Our mission is to ensure that as our clients’ needs change; our plan of care evolves to meet those changes
Lahey Health at Home Private Duty Services employs registered nurses (RNs), certified home health aides (CHHAs), and administrative support staff. Our nurses and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) are all graduates of accredited schools of nursing, and have had their licenses verified by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing. All of our home health aides are required to have completed an 80-hour certification course approved by the Massachusetts Association of Homemakers and Health Aides. In addition, all home health aides must attend a minimum of 12 educational in-service training sessions a year to maintain their certification.
All prospective staff members are put through a rigorous pre-employment screening; only those individuals who meet our high standards are considered for employment. Our pre-employment screening includes:
- Multiple professional reference checks;
- Criminal background checks;
- Certified nursing assistan registry check;
- License and/or certification verification;
- CPR certification (nurses only);
- A pre-employment physical;
- Pre-employment drug testing;
- Tb testing; and
- Competency testing.
Insured and Bonded
All of our staff are insured and bonded by Lahey Health at Home Private Duty Services. This includes:
- Workers compensation insurance;
- Liability insurance; and
- Bonding insurance.
Examples of skilled nursing care services provided by registered nurses (RNs) and licensed practical nurses (LPNs) on our staff include
- Skilled nursing assessments and care;
- Liaisons between client, physician and family members to establish a plan of care;
- Complete medication management;
- Feeding tube maintenance;
- Teaching clients and family members about their care; and
- Incontinence management.
Under a professional care plan prepared by an RN, our certified home health aides provide services for clients whose health status is unstable and who additional supportive care. In addition to providing personal attention, home health aides monitor vital signs and perform other healthcare services as directed by the supervising RN. These may include:
- Personal care;
- Meal preparation;
- Light housekeeping;
- Appointments; and
- Medication reminders.
